Hello,
Booklets, Blogs and Branching out (to Tasmania)
As the beautiful spring weather arrives it's with great excitement
that we announce an increasing number of locations at which you can
enjoy SoccerFit.
Pride of place goes to SoccerFit Classic in Northern Tasmania, as
the programme expands its reach out of the greater Sydney area. We
heartily welcome Tasmania to the SoccerFit fold and encourage towns
and districts across Australia to join our efforts in bringing this
unique fitness programme to an even greater number of people.
Oh and one last thing...go you Matildas in the Womens'

The SoccerFit Blog |
|
The SoccerFit website now has a Blog. For those
of you not familiar with them, blogs have become a popular internet
feature for sharing your thoughts with a broad audience. They also
allow people to freely make comments on topics discussed in the
Blog.
It's an easy-to-use facility that fits in well
with the SoccerFit philosophy of encouraging feedback on all of our
activities. The Blog is readily accessed from the SoccerFit Website,
and for those of you with the technical know-how, or the adventurous
spirit to try, it can be subscribed to using an 'RSS feed reader'
(such as Google Reader) which provides automatic notification when
the Blog is updated.

our Blog.

Welcome to SoccerFit Booklet (Free
website download) |
|
A booklet (in easy to print format) can now be
downloaded from the SoccerFit website which provides an excellent
introduction to the programme for all our participants (new and
current) and provides information on a number of other topics that
will hopefully enrich the experience for many.
As well as tips on safety and recommendations
on how to assess your own progress, some basic views on simple game
tactics are available which should make for very interesting reading
to those new to soccer. The document will be
periodically updated and we'll keep you informed of these via our
Blog and upcoming versions of the newsletter.

Hornsby PCYC course report (by Owen
McMahon) |
|
It's been a great start to SoccerFit™ at Hornsby PCYC and it's
catching on fast. Our Over 35's Womens programme running between
12-1PM on a Monday is underway and our Under 11 sessions on
Wednesday and Thursday afternoons are also proving to be big hits.
The holiday program was a great success giving 25 kids an
opportunity to try SoccerFit™. I was most impressed with Sahil's
improvement, he had never played before but after the first session
he was passing with his in-step and scored 6 points in the passing
drill.
The children were aged between 6 and 11 and it is a testament to the
SoccerFit program that the age difference did not matter in the
slightest. It was such a welcome surprise to see the kids running
around actually enjoying doing fitness (especially the linked arms
shuttle-runs known as Squad Manouevres). Danny (co-trainer) and I
both reflected on how we thought the kids would frown upon our evil
'fitness burst' concoctions but they couldn't get enough.
