General terms applicable to SoccerFit™ Premium Specialist Sessions
- Sessions are high energy and invigorating but participants are motivated to remain at their comfortable level
- Sessions are mixed - male and female
- Please bring a football (size 3, 4 or 5). For beginners a size 5 may be best.
-
Please always bring an adequate supply of drinking water, and, for daytime sessions, high factor suncream.
Terms Specific to SoccerFit™ Premium Specialist Sessions
- Sessions must be purchased in blocks of a miniumum of 4 at a time
- Rescheduling of sessions at the request of the participant must be by prior discussion and agreement with the trainer. A minimum of 72 hours notice is required.
- 2 weeks advance notice of a request to discontinue the service must be provided by the participant to the trainer.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy
Sessions may be cancelled due to weather, holiday periods, or other circumstances. In all cases, an attempt will be made to reschedule the session for a suitable future date.
Participants will be directly informed of a rescheduled or cancelled session by the trainer, or notified by mobile phone text message (SMS) or email. In the event that you receive a notice of cancellation or rescheduling by email or SMS, PLEASE REPLY IMMEDIATELY IN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE MESSAGE IN ORDER THAT THE TRAINER KNOWS YOU HAVE RECEIVED IT.
Though every attempt will be made to accomodate participants, session rescheduling is exclusively at the discretion of the trainer.
Sessions at particular locations or delivered by particular trainers may be cancelled at short notice for an indefinite period. In such circumstances, participants at affected locations who have unused session credits will be offered one of the following options :-
- If appropriate, the choice of attending sessions at an alternative location
- A pro-rata (per session) refund based on the number of unused session credits held. Please note that this excludes carryover sessions, discretionary free sessions, or discounted sessions provided as part of a promotional campaign. The key principle which applies in this set of circumstances is that only sessions for which a corresponding payment has been directly made, will be refunded.
Refunds sought by participants on the basis of a 'change of mind' are not permitted.
Illness/Injury Policy
Regrettably, no refunds are permitted for sessions missed due to illness or injury. However, in this situation, the Proxy option (i.e. nominating someone else to take the session) can be applied to ensure that sessions are utilised.
Session Locations/Floodlighting
In line with commonplace fitness industry practice, sessions may be held in public spaces on a non-exclusive basis. The SoccerFit organisation or its licencees do not guarantee the availability of locations of this nature.
Where possible, evening sessions will be conducted under floodlighting or suitable incidental public lighting. The SoccerFit organisation, or its licencees, do not provide any guarantee in regard to the quality or availability of floodlighting for evening sessions.
Disclaimer and Disclaimer Transferability Policy
As with all sporting and fitness activities, there are some associated risks of injury or ill-health. Participants are required to sign a disclaimer before commencement of their participation in SoccerFit.
In circumstances where the originally designated trainer is substituted by a relief or alternative trainer, participants remain bound by the terms of the signed disclaimer statement provided by the originally designated trainer.
Risk Awareness Summary
NOTE : A document entitled 'The SoccerFit Health Safety and Risk Awareness Guidelines' provides additional information on this topic - Please click here (web address http://soccerfit.com.au/downloads#Health
) to view (and/or print) this document.
Personal Risk
Participating in SoccerFit can be dangerous, and is done of one's own free will and entirely at one's own risk.
Insurance - injury treatment costs and possible loss of income
SoccerFit and its licencees do not provide insurance cover of any form to participants taking part in SoccerFit programme activities.
Participants should consider taking out personal accident insurance.
Treatment of injuries or ill-health may be covered by private health insurance - please check with your provider.
Participants not covered by sick leave entitlements at their place of work should consider their insurance position in regard to loss of income resulting from injury or ill-health.
Safety Precautions
As with all fitness activities, there is some risk of injury and/or ill-health. To ensure that the level of risk is minimised, participants must adhere to the following precautions :-
- Do not participate in SoccerFit™ if you are feeling unwell or currently consulting with a medical practitioner for an ongoing or chronic medical condition.
- Do not participate in SoccerFit™ against doctor’s advice.
- Make sure you drink plenty of water before, during and after your SoccerFit™ workout.
Specifc Injuries
Participants are advised to fully consider injuries that can occur when undertaking exercise or general fitness activities such as SoccerFit™. Examples of such injuries include :-
- Contact injuries including cuts, bruising, and fractures
- Sprains and strains
- Injuries resulting from slipping or falls to the ground (knees, hips and other areas of the body)
Other injuries not specified here may also occur.
Age and conditionGroups which are at higher risk of injury or adverse affects when undertaking exercise or general fitness activities such as SoccerFit™ include :-
- Those aged 30 and over
- Those who are ‘out of shape’ or returning to fitness
- Those who are overweight
Playing Surface
Please also note that playing surfaces on which SoccerFit™ is held can vary in quality. Divots and natural undulations of the playing surface may be present. Surface variations may not be immediately apparent from visual inspection. These variations can be a factor in sprains, falls, or other injuries. Instructors will attempt to identify and avoid activities near areas of the surface affected in this way. Participants must be aware of and accept the risk of injury that is present from surface defects and variations.
Important Safety Notices in regard to the SoccerFit adapted-format game experience
A non-contact soccer format
SoccerFit™ Premium features an adapted-format soccer game experience. In offering this facility to members of the public, safety is of course a primary concern of SoccerFit™ (the organisation).
It is a NON-CONTACT soccer format - that is to say, direct physical contact between opposing players is against the rules.
The SoccerFit Premium Instructor will act as referee and make a judgement in all cases as to whether a non-contact rule infringement has taken place.
The benefits of the non-contact aspect of the SoccerFit game experience are significant. These benefits include:-
- Aids in the minimisation of risks of contact injuries
- Encourages a fast-moving exciting style of soccer
- Strongly emphasises the 'pass and move' aspects of soccer which are the hallmarks of good team play.
Injury Risk Minimisation Measures
The SoccerFit game experience can carry risk of injury for participants.
The emphasis of the game experience is on fitness, skill and teamplay. In order for the game experience to remain fast-moving and competitive, tackling is not permitted. Participants are encouraged to 'shepherd' or 'jockey' opponents, but direct physical contact is to be avoided at all times. The trainer will provide instruction on this matter as required - please ask if unsure.
Key safety points during the SoccerFit game experience include :
- No sliding tackles permitted under any circumstances
- In promoting good technique and style, the trainer will advise specific game conditions (for example, the 'two touch' or 'shoulder-height' rule) throughout the game.
- Do not wear prescription glasses or sunglasses during the ‘game’ component of SoccerFit™.
Suitable Sports attire
Normal sporting attire is best.
Footwear Restriction - No Studs. Soft Materials only.
Studded footwear is NOT permitted - please no football boots.
Footwear must have soft soles and soft uppers - Puma Grass-cats and the Australian-made Blades are brands of sports shoe that some have found suitable - please contact SoccerFit if you would like more details on these products.
Shinpads and Ankle Straps
Shinpads are recommended.
Protective Ankle Straps (to minimise the risk of ankle injury) are recommended - The Victor Ankle Stabiliser Model 874 is a brand that some have found suitable - please contact SoccerFit if you would like more details on these products. Persons over 30 years of age are strongly encouraged to wear ankle straps.
Right of Decline Policy
The SoccerFit organisation reserves the right to decline provision of the service to any individual at any time.
Exclusivity Policy
Sessions are closed - new participants can join the programme only if prior arrangements have been made with the SoccerFit organisation. Persons seeking to introduce new members to the session should notify the trainer.
Wet Weather Policy
In most cases, SoccerFit sessions are run during rain weather, provided conditions underfoot are safe. If it is raining and you’re curious as to whether it’s on or not, just call us. If there is a confirmed cancellation due to weather, you should receive a SMS text message to let you know.
Personal Safety Measures
Please take adequate measures to ensure your safe travel to and from the session location. In particular, where it applies, please organise transport to take account of the approach of evening darkness.
